RICK BOWMAN |
SLUT | The most underappreciated and maligned word ever.
All through time, "slut" has been maligned, discredited, even used as propaganda against the fairer sex. Biblical referenced have linked sluttiness with diseases and even advocated punishment of death. But Man has to realize that just as a single hand clapping doesn't sound like much, a singular act of slutiness is more aptly called masturbation.
So, in sum, it is well past the time to understand, and rather than stand in front and force our sexocentric attitudes on "slut" - we need to stand behind our collective sluts and give it our support.
~Thank you. RB |

TRANSLATE | We are a team of native Latvian translators and proofreaders who work in Latvian, English, French, Italian and German. While the business of translation is said to have emerged millennia ago, a modern and high-quality translating process can only be realised by a linguist who has systemic comprehension and facility in a given speciality: technical, marketing, legal, medical, literary, electronics, computer software and localization.

| ACRISA | AFFORD | I find afford a fascinating word to ponder when concerns about money arise in my life. It's easy when I don't feel I have enough money to think I can't afford things. But then I remember AFFORD. It suggests being able, able to produce, to give forth, to provide naturally. It's etymology suggests advancing and moving onward, which is a better plan than sitting in a rut of I can't. The Little Engine That Could knew, "I think I can, I think I can," it said. And it could. |

| TED UNSETH | ETYMOLOGY | I know a 38-year-old Italian woman who captures my Soul. But she has great Angst concerning her own Soul--she can't seem to find it. I want to help. She says there's only one thing she's ever been consistently passionate about or interested in and that's Reading. But Reading is absorption; and I think she craves to find an Outlet that interests her. She once mentioned that she finds Etymology intriguing; but that's as far as it goes. I'd like to see it go farther. I'd like her to make Etymology a serious Hobby. Your site seems like the perfect place to begin such an undertaking. I thank you most sincerely for working so hard to construct it and then to make it available to others. "See, Carla? There is Hope, after all." |
