(accommodations) and chiefly U.S.; from Fr. accommodation, from L. accommodationem (nom. accommodatio), noun of action from accommodare (see accommodate). Meaning "appliance, anything which affords aid" is from 1610s; that of "act of accommodating" is from 1640s.
